Pre-natal Support

When a baby is diagnosed with a heart problem during pregnancy, it can have a devastating effect on parents who are concerned about their baby’s fate. ECHO has a programme of support for parents-to-be including trained Pre-natal Support volunteers, who are parents of heart-children themselves and who are available for telephone support. We also sponsor one-day Ante Natal Classes, run by the specialist Thames Team Midwives at St. Thomas’ Hospital, which are specifically organised for the benefit of parents expecting a heart-baby. These days are held every six weeks and are open to all parents whose child will go on to be treated at the Evelina Hospital. Some parents may also find our DVD “Living with Congenital Heart Disease” helpful, and can request a copy from our Admin Office (admin@echo-evelina.org.uk), as well as our leaflet “Pre-natal Support” which can be downloaded from this website.
