Social Worker

There is a dedicated Cardiac Social Worker within the Department of Paediatric Cardiology at the Evelina. Her name is Ivy Bannerman-Wood and she writes…

“I completed my social work training at Brunel University in London; I worked for Richmond Social Services and then Lambeth Social Services as a Child Protection Social Worker. I have four years experience of child protection work and over ten years experience of direct work with children and families. These include family assessment, children with disabilities, children looked after by the local authority and families in need.

Paediatric social work is new to me; however, I am aware and understand some of the needs of families with children who have particular health needs. I hope to work together with all the professionals within the paediatric cardiology unit and to provide an excellent level of social care to the families who come to my attention.

Families may be referred for social work input by their consultants, nurses, midwives, psychologist and representatives from ECHO. I work from 9:45am to 3pm, Monday to Thursday and I am based on Sky.”
